Description

Planning a Baguio tour? Nestled high in the Cordillera Mountains, Baguio City is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Philippines. Known as the “Summer Capital of the Philippines,” Baguio offers cool weather, scenic landscapes, rich culture, and a unique blend of urban and provincial life. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or returning for another unforgettable escape, this guide highlights the best places to visit on your Baguio tour.

1. Burnham Park

No Baguio tour is complete without visiting Burnham Park. Located at the heart of the city, this iconic park is a favorite among locals and tourists. You can go boating on the man-made lake, rent a bike, enjoy a picnic, or simply stroll around the gardens. It’s an excellent place to start your Baguio adventure and soak in the city’s vibe.

2. Mines View Park

A visit to Mines View Park offers breathtaking panoramic views of the old gold and copper mines of Itogon, Benguet. The viewing deck is a perfect photo spot, especially during sunrise or sunset. You can also wear traditional Cordilleran attire, shop for local souvenirs, or try freshly grilled sweet corn.

3. The Mansion

Just a short ride from Mines View Park is The Mansion, the official summer residence of the President of the Philippines. The building’s architecture and well-manicured lawns make it a great stop for photos. While the main building is off-limits to the public, visitors are free to explore the front grounds and take pictures of the ornate gates.

4. Wright Park

Across The Mansion is Wright Park, famous for its Pool of Pines and horseback riding activities. The park is lined with towering pine trees, and the reflection of the trees on the rectangular pond creates a calming atmosphere. This is a great place for families and kids who want to enjoy a fun ride on ponies.

5. Botanical Garden

Also known as the Igorot Village, the Botanical Garden showcases native huts, lush gardens, and local art installations. You can take a peaceful walk through pine forests and flowering plants or meet local artists selling their handmade crafts. It’s a calm oasis perfect for nature lovers.

6. Camp John Hay

Once a rest and recreation facility for the U.S. military, Camp John Hay has evolved into a full-fledged tourist destination. The area features luxury hotels, a golf course, a butterfly sanctuary, eco-trails, and historical spots like the Bell House Museum and the Secret Garden. It’s a must-visit for a more upscale and relaxing Baguio tour experience.

7. Baguio Cathedral

Also known as Our Lady of the Atonement Cathedral, this majestic church is one of Baguio’s most iconic landmarks. Its rose-colored façade, twin spires, and grand staircase make it a top destination for both religious pilgrims and tourists. It’s located near Session Road, so it’s very accessible.

8. Session Road

The city’s main commercial artery, Session Road, is filled with restaurants, cafés, shops, and boutiques. It’s a great place to experience the local scene, try Baguio’s food specialties, or enjoy people-watching. Whether it’s day or night, Session Road is always buzzing with activity.

9. La Trinidad Strawberry Farm

Located just outside Baguio in La Trinidad, Benguet, the Strawberry Farm is famous for its “pick-your-own-strawberries” experience. Depending on the season, visitors can harvest their own strawberries or buy fresh produce and strawberry-based products like jams, wines, and ice cream.

10. Tam-Awan Village

For a deeper look into the region’s culture, head to Tam-Awan Village, a reconstructed Cordilleran village showcasing traditional Ifugao huts, local art, and indigenous crafts. It also offers workshops, art exhibits, and cultural shows. The village sits on a hill, offering scenic views of the mountains and sunsets.

11. BenCab Museum

One of the most popular art destinations in the region, the BenCab Museum houses the works of national artist Benedicto Cabrera along with other contemporary and indigenous art. The museum is beautifully set in a forested area, and visitors can enjoy both art and nature. There’s also a café with a panoramic view of the mountains.

12. Mirador Heritage and Eco Park

This newer attraction is quickly becoming a top spot for Baguio tourists. Mirador Hill features Japanese-style gardens, bamboo groves, a peace memorial, and stunning sunset views. The combination of natural beauty and historical relevance makes it a worthwhile stop.

13. Igorot Stone Kingdom

One of Baguio’s rising attractions, the Igorot Stone Kingdom is a man-made structure inspired by local folklore and mythology. It features stone terraces, statues, and towers that highlight Cordilleran culture. It’s a great spot for photography and cultural immersion.

14. Baguio Public Market

Looking for souvenirs or local treats? The Baguio Public Market is the best place to shop for fresh vegetables, coffee, peanut brittle, ube jam, woven products, and woodcrafts. It’s a sensory adventure and a great place to buy pasalubong before heading home.

15. Night Market (Harrison Road)

If you’re doing a Baguio tour on a budget, don’t miss the famous Baguio Night Market along Harrison Road. Starting at around 9 PM, hundreds of stalls sell ukay-ukay (secondhand clothes), street food, shoes, gadgets, and more. It’s a lively and affordable way to enjoy the city after dark.

16. Arca’s Yard

This charming café-museum-library hybrid offers great food, stunning mountain views, and a peaceful atmosphere. Located slightly off the main tourist trail, Arca’s Yard is perfect for travelers who want to read, reflect, or simply relax while enjoying Cordilleran hospitality.

17. Easter Weaving Room

For those interested in native textile arts, the Easter Weaving Room offers a glimpse into the traditional weaving techniques of the region. Visitors can watch weavers at work and purchase beautiful handwoven fabrics and garments.

Tips for Your Baguio Tour

  • Best time to visit: December to February is the coldest and most festive season (Panagbenga Festival happens in February).

  • Clothing: Pack jackets, especially for evening strolls. Baguio can get chilly even during summer.

  • Transportation: Jeepneys and taxis are widely available, but walking is also a great way to explore.

  • Food to try: Don’t miss Good Shepherd’s ube jam, Vizco’s strawberry shortcake, and Baguio longganisa.
